Shell Time

I traded paper for shells for a few weeks in December, and the good news is they all sold out pretty much immediately. Zero newsletters, launches, or all that jazz.

It’s pretty sweet when a relaxing, different approach to painting takes off. Although I was super pumped to paint on a large piece of paper, after a while. I guess it all shows how much you benefit from mixing up your art - the surfaces, the subject, the colors. It feels good to venture from the norm.

Shout out to Daniel Smith watercolor ground, which basically makes this possible. It’s a primer you apply to any surface, and after letting it cure for 48 hours…voila. It’s officially watercolor-able.

Also, having a shell store nearby helped tremendously. Support a local small business, paint some rad art, and bring some colorful sunshine to people. It’s a win win across the board.

Shell yeah.

I list these all in the shell section of the shop as I finish (and remember to photograph) them. So, keep on checking to see when the next one will pop up.

In the meantime, grab some shells, a sharpie or some acrylic paint pen, or heck, go all out and watercolor them, too. It’s quite a relaxing craft. Give it a shot.
